My camera isn't connecting (MegaVision)
MegaVision Camera Connection Troubleshooting Guide
Thank you for accessing this troubleshooting guide. By using the steps below, we're hopeful that your concern can be resolved quickly. Start with the Cable Check section and, as needed, continue through the rest of the sections until your camera connects to the Photoshoot capture software. If you have taken the actions outlined in all of the steps in this guide without success, please submit a ticket for additional assistance from our staff by clicking on the NewVision support icon on your desktop or in your NewVision software.
Before getting started with the troubleshooting steps, click "Run Capture" in NewVision to launch your Photoshoot capture software and check that Photoshoot is indicating that your camera is not connected. The message you will see is "No camera attached." The screenshot below is an example of what you'll see in this instance. If this is not the message you see, please refer to one of our other
troubleshooting guides.
Cable Check
Shut down the computer. Anytime changes are made to the cord between the MegaVision camera and the computer, you need to shut down the computer first.
You will see either a Firewire cable plugged directly into the back of the computer or plugged into a white adapter that goes into the computer. See the images below for reference. If your cable set-up does not look like the images below, there will be an opportunity to reconfigure them in subsequent steps.
Firewire cable plugged into the computer
Firewire adapter plugged into the computer- After shutting down the PC, unplug the Firewire cable from the back of the computer. If your Firewire cable is plugged into a white adapter that goes into the computer, unplug the adapter from the back of the computer.
- WITHOUT RECONNECTING the Firewire cable or white adapter, start the computer and wait until your computer start-up routine has completed. This usually takes about a minute.
- Shut down the computer again. IMPORTANT: The computer must be off to reconnect your cable (If your cable set-up does not look like the images above, reconfigure them or contact our staff for assistance).
- WAIT 30 SECONDS BEFORE RECONNECTING THE CABLE
- Reconnect the Firewire cable or white adapter to the back of the computer. Make sure the cable is connected securely to the computer. The cable will only go in correctly one way, so if the cord connector is not sliding in easily try rotating or turning the connector over and try again. DO NOT FORCE cables into or out of the computer.
- Make sure the cable is connected securely to the MegaVision. Again, DO NOT FORCE cables into or out of the camera. The images below reflect different ways in which the other end of the Firewire cable may be connected to the MegaVision.
- Restart the computer.
- Open the NewVision and Photoshoot capture programs.
- If the Photoshoot software program recognizes the camera, it will be confirmed by the presence of the solid green light on the back upper left of the MegaVision camera (once Capture is launched), as well as the model and serial number of your MegaVision camera appearing in the Photoshoot capture software. See the images below for reference. Move to the Test Shots section of this guide.
- If the light on the MegaVision camera is not illuminated or solid red, move to the Firewall Check section.
Firewall Check
- Ensure that your firewall settings allow the capture application as described in the service manual. Contact your organization's IT representative for assistance with this process.
- After ensuring that your firewall settings are allowed, repeat the steps outlined in the Cable Check section of this guide. If the Photoshoot software program does not recognize the camera at that point, please submit a ticket for additional assistance from our staff by clicking on the NewVision support icon on your desktop or in your NewVision software.
Test Shots
- Now that your MegaVision camera is recognized in the Photoshoot capture program, open a new test patient in the Photoshoot capture software and take a few test shots. The light on your MegaVision camera will flash red briefly when taking a photo. This is expected behavior and does not indicate an issue.
- If the camera is flashing and firing and images are appearing in the Photoshoot capture program, your issue is resolved.
- If images appear in the new test patient study but not in Photoshoot, refer to the "I can't find my settings in the capture software (MegaVision)" guide.
- If problems persist, please submit a ticket for additional support from our staff by clicking on the NewVision support icon on your desktop or in your NewVision software.
